From Log to sawmill to milling to placement...and many steps in between we stay connected to the process. We believe the best way to naturally release moisture from our wood is to air dry, especially before kiln drying if mandated, or if circumstances demand. Some wood is indeed mandated to be kiln dried, such as black walnut. We cut and stack our slabs to air dry first. We use a kiln when the wood hits above a certain moisture meter, and time is not on our side, and if not endangering the wood., or when mandated. Certain woods must be slow KD or will split. The master arborist we consult concur air drying is the best for our wood. We are not big business wood merchants. We are a small business who simply uses antique material to create timeless pieces, avoiding trends, and endeavor to share our passion to respect our history through wood. If a builder, contractor, designer, anyone...call us to tell us what you need, and we will find if we do not have on site or in warehouses.
